After you have been allocated a piece of land by Land Aruba, this must be recorded in a notarial deed of long lease. In short, long lease means that you rent (lease) the land from Land Aruba for a fixed period of time, usually 60 years. While respecting the applicable general and special leasehold conditions, you are entitled to use the land as if it is your own property.
To be eligible for a long lease land, the government puts certain requirements. Usually you must be able to demonstrate that you have sufficient financial means, either privately or through bank financing, to be able to build a house or business premises (depending on the leasehold conditions). These requirements were instituted by the government after it appeared that the conditions were not followed and there was little or no construction(s) taking place as was required. It is advisable to arrange your financial affairs properly and in time to be seriously eligible for a long lease land.
